What are the essential qualities of a good communicator?

  • Maintain eye contact.
    - It is important to maintain eye contact while having conversations so that the speaker/listener perceive that we are paying attention to what they have to say.
  • Do not fidgit.
    - It is distracting for both parties ; speaker/listener if they fidgit while having conversation because we tend to concerntrate more on their movements rather than the whole conversation.
    - Fidgitting is also rude as one will have the tendency to think that the conversation i boring.
  • Maintaining good posture.
-Maintaining good posture is important because it shows that the message that the speaker has to convey is important.
-If the listener slouch, it shows that he/she is not interested in the conversation.

Suggest how you can show CPR.

CPR means; Clarifiying, Paraphrasing & Reflecting.

By Clarifiying, it helps people to sense that we are interested in having conversation or about the issue. It also shows that we are trying to understand their messafe more.

For example : When a speaker tells you that she slipped and injured her elbow, the listener can clarify with them by asking how it happened or when it happened.

By Paraphrasing, we can restructure the message so that it helps to ensure that the message heard is correct and interpreted correctly.

For example ; speaker : " i fell this morning at home and i slipped on a banana . "
listener : " i see.. so you slipped on banana at earlier at home. "

By Reflecting, we can help to achieve accurate understanding of the message by giving suggestions etc etc.

For example ; the listener can advise the speaker to be more careful the next time.

End.
